Eight weeks. That's it, just eight weeks. That's how long it takes a single cell to become a complete human being. A distinct new life that includes everything from a functioning liver to unique fingerprints on very tiny fingers.

This incredible ability of nature has always astounded me. Despite teaching this phenomenon to numerous junior high students in health education and experiencing it during my own pregnancies, it never ceases to amaze me that such an incredible process is possible in such a short amount of time. It serves as a reminder that while expectant mothers often do everything they can to keep their bodies healthy, the growth and development of their babies is largely in the hands of a natural process that is beyond their control. A process that results in a baby- a baby that needs to be nurtured and cared for.

This transformation- from a life in utero to one inside your home- will be a tremendous change for both you and your baby. Although usually welcomed and exciting, this life change can also be very overwhelming. This is where I can be of assistance.
